Canine Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is used to treat dogs who have musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or neurological conditions. Like people, dogs can suffer from a wide range of injuries, illnesses or disease that can negatively impact on their pain levels and quality of life. Physiotherapy is used to identify problematic areas, which allows an appropriate treatment plan to be developed which can then reduce pain, improve joint movement, build strength and increase functionality. This can be achieved through a variety of different methods, including exercise, manual therapy, electrotherapy and activity modification.

Canine Physiotherapy

During a Canine Physiotherapy assessment, Karris will take an extensive history from you about your dog’s current issues, past medical history and any Veterinary input to date, as well as details about their normal routine and your home set up. A gait assessment is completed to allow Karris to identify any asymmetries in movement, before she assesses joint range of movement and palpates the soft tissues across the entire body. The findings are always discussed, and a treatment plan developed with input from the owner.

Although it is predominantly dogs that Karris receives referrals for, Physiotherapy can often be helpful for a variety of different species, therefore if you have another animal that has a musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or neurological condition or injury, please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss individual cases.
